About Kathleen

Welcome to my blog! I am a writer and scholar who cares deeply about storytelling for young people. I have a PhD in Childhood Studies from Rutgers University-Camden and an MA in Children’s Literature and MFA in Writing for Children from Simmons University. I teach writing and humanities for college first years, and I write fantasy novels for young adult and middle-grade readers. Here’s hoping those manuscripts find their way into bookstores someday!

I love to talk about all aspects of storytelling, but my favorite topic is monstrosity. I research and write about monsters — what they are, what they do, how they permeate our identities and politics. You know, asking the Big Philosophical Questions while also thinking really hard about werewolves.
